A Few Simple Homemade Clay Masks

Clay is considered to be one of the most effective skincare ingredients. Through ages, it has been used for a wide variety of reasons, one of them being the skin. There is a mention of this ingredient in Ayurveda along with other Egyptian, Korean and Western skincare products. The therapeutic properties of clay have led to its inclusion in a number of beauty treatments, according to skin experts at best beauty clinic in Kolkata. We can also prepare clay masks at home and include it in our routine.

  • Bentonite Clay mixed with apple cider vinegar:

When it comes to skin, these two ingredients are considered a match made in heaven. This mask is known to rejuvenate the skin by sucking out all toxicities. Apple cider vinegar contains a pH ranging between 4.25-5. By adding bentonite clay to this, the skin pH is balanced out and leaves a gentle sensation on all types of skin. The clay is known to absorb all the excess oil while vinegar destroys harmful bacteria. Experts at top 10 beauty clinics in Shyambazar advise using it in any mask combination at least once in a week to unclog the pores. However, keep in mind not to use more than 1 tsp of vinegar.

  • Bentonite clay and tea tree oil:

This mask is perfect in clearing the skin by destroying acne-causing bacteria. Apart from purifying skin, bentonite clay also helps to supply oxygen to the cells and produces an alkalizing effect. It is rich in valuable minerals like silica, magnesium and calcium. When this is mixed with an antibacterial ingredient like tea-tree oil, an effective skin mask is achieved. To prepare this, add 4 drops of tea tree oil to 1 tbsp of bentonite clay. Apply it evenly using a brush and let it dry for 10 minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water. Close the pores using a toner.

  • Clay and honey:

Prepare a mixture by adding one tablespoon of any clay of your choice to a teaspoon of honey. Use a gentle brush and apply it evenly on the face. Honey is known for its ability to nourish the skin while adding moisture. It also possesses anti-bacterial properties and leaves a soothing sensation on irritated skin.

  • Multani mitti and lemon juice:

Fuller’s Earth, commonly called multani mitti, is widely used in beauty clinics in North Kolkata due to the miracles that it offers to the skin.
